Common Ground takes place in the Aylesbury Estate in south London, undergoing a massive regeneration impacting the lives of its people. The story explores how design, planning, and politics have drastically impacted the lives of residents living in their homes, as well as their communities.
The documentary prompted discussions on its subject, showing how an immersive documentary can shape the conversation and unveil new truths for people to digest and understand.
Through the use of stereoscopic 360 video, photogrammetry and 3D modelling the viewer enters the world of the estate from its birth in the 1960’s, through to its decline and up to its controversial regeneration today.
Common Ground is another great example of how Virtual Reality can be used to highlight social issues. For more reading on the impact of virtual reality on social issues click here.
